London Personal Trainers
Personal training is booming. With personal trainers across London offering weight loss, bootcamp, circuits, toning, strength and hundreds of others skill sets, there's no excuse not to get fit as there's always someone that can help and motivate you!
Being able to find insured and qualified personal trainers in London is what we do best - and have done since 1999! The NRPT.co.uk vets all the trainers you see, so we know whether they are qualified, insured and where they did their training at University or abroad.
Personal training is at an all time high in the Capital. With over 8 million people in the inner M25 London area, you can discover a London personal trainer that can help you achieve whatever goal you want.
Why Choose NRPT?
As stated above, we are still the only true personal trainer directory that checks every member for their Level 3 qualification and to ensure they have Public Liability insurance to protect you in the event of an injury or accident during training.
The NRPT.co.uk charges trainers an annual fee for membership, which helps to sort out those that are serious about training people and those that aren't. We constantly look to improve your website to provide you with the easiest ways possible to contact a trainer. You can also do this through our online form so it's pretty much anonymous.

Step 1 - Identify Your Goals
Why do you want a personal trainer? Do you actually enjoy fitness and exercising? Is there something specific you want to work on.
First and foremost, you need to decide what your goal is going to be that the trainer can work with on. From building strength, becoming fitter or losing weight through to more specific goals like training for a marathon or rehab post injury. Setting a goal means you have a target to achieve. It also ensures that if you're paying for you personal trainer - they know what you want.
Setting goals not only gives you motivation, but means you can measure whether what you're doing is being successful. enables you to have a measure of your success for each session. That way both you and your trainer can see whether it's working for you.
Step 2 - Where Do You Want to Train?
It sounds an obvious question, but do you really want to train in a gym? Would it not be a great motivator to change venues and mix it up. From a local park to a new gym, the studio or a specialist boxing gym perhaps.
Make sure you think about what time you want to train as a starting point. Early morning training vs. during work or are evenings your best time to work out and de-stress from the day? Once you have decided on the time, then you can work out where you want to train. It may be more convenient to train near your place of work, so you can have a shower in the office and then get on with the day? It's up to you - so don't be pressured in to doing what they want.
Step 3 - How Often Each Week/Month?
A lot of people are put off by thinking they have to have a trainer twice a week every week - with the predictable big budget that comes with it. Not the case. If you are quite a good self-motivator and are looking for a trainer to help you hone what you already know and give you some good new ideas, then once every 2 weeks may be enough for you.
If you have a set goal in mind, say a wedding coming up for which you want to lose weight, or a marathon that you need to train for, then a personal trainer each week can ensure you stick to your planned goals and milestones. Of course there's nothing to say (if you can afford it) that you can't have a personal trainer every day. In London there's enough venues for you to mix it up every day of the year and you'd still have some scope for more sessions in different venues!
As with other things, make sure you are comfortable with what you want to go for and re-assess after a few weeks in.
Step 4 - What's Your Budget?
How long is a piece of string? Seriously, if you want to hire a fitness trainer then the budget can be as big as you want it to be. Depending on where you are in London and what type of trainer you want, the minimum price per session (between 45mins and 1 hour) is around £50 - £60. In the centre of town in areas like Mayfair or Kensington don't be surprised to see that reach £90 - £100 per session.
Don't forget that if you are willing to pay up front you can often get a discount of a free session for every 10 sessions - maybe even 2 free sessions. Don't be afraid to ask as the trainer will like having a single payment as simpler to manage, less paperwork and also money upfront.
Step 5 - Choosing Your Trainer
Now you know it's for you and you're set to go, choosing a personal trainer is still not quite as simple as just picking one and getting on with it.
Look at their profile, read through their expertise and experience and then compare to a couple of other, similar trainers. This should give you an idea of what type of person they are and whether you feel they may be right for you.
We always suggest you then contact them using the contact form on the right hand side and ask them questions that will help you make up your mind. Like "How do you help to motivate me if I am having a bad day?". The response to this sort of question should help you to see what type of motivator they are and whether they would suit you.
Above all, when you meet them, if you really don't feel comfortable or the 'fit' doesn't seem right - walk away. Remember you are paying for their services and therefore you should feel 100% comfortable around them.
