What's The Point?
Many sports such as track and field, basketball, and volleyball require explosive leg strength. The standing broad jump test is a good way to assess this, and thus monitor the effectiveness of your training program.
What Do You Need?

Long Jump pit
-
30 meter tape measure
- An assistant
How Do You Do The Test?

Stand with your feet at the edge of the sandpit.

From a two foot, standing start, leap as far forward as possible

The assistant measures the distance from the edge of the sandpit to your first contact point in the sandpit
- Repeat the test several times and record your best distance.
What Results You'll See
There are two ways you can use your results. By comparing your results over time, you will be able to assess the effectiveness of your training regime.
Alternatively, you can compare your results with the following data. The first table was obtained from the results of tests conducted with world-class athletes, the second and third tables from the general population.
