About Me

Very experienced mobile/online/gym based personal trainer with a focus of exceeding client expectations, resulting in them feeling and performing better.

 

What Can I Do For You?

 

Since qualifying in 2011 I have been able to build my knowledge and experience within the industry to give clients the best quality of training. I have a degree in Sport Science (human performance), MSc in Nutrition, a level 4 qualification specialising in lower back pain, pre and postal training and advanced kettlebell instructor. Over my career, I have attended three internships in America and Canada working with professional athletes. This has given me the experience to train with people from all walks of life, including the following :

General population

Pre and post-natal clients

Junior athletic individuals and teams ageing from 9 upwards

Professional and amateur athletes.

 

I take great pride in my own training to make sure I am in the best physical condition not only to perform my job but to inspire my clients to achieve their goals. Having played women’s ice hockey for one of the top women’s clubs in the country and being part of the women’s Great Britain ice hockey organisation. This offers a wealth of knowledge and experience by having the same emotions of working towards a goal and the discipline needed physically and nutritionally. I can teach you the correct habits and guidelines to help achieve your goals however big or small adding the nutritional support too.

I was recommended to Katie Girdler over 2 years ago by a friend of mine who had talked over dinner about her amazing PT. Not having ever been to a gym I hadn’t a clue what she meant by PT and had to ask.

I’d been on a radical diet and lost a lot of weight but the scheme I’d signed to gave no advice regarding how to keep the weight off without feeling utterly starving all the time ……so I asked my friend for Katie’s number and went for a consultation.

Katie never made me feel stupid for not knowing what to do at the gym. She was patient and worked out a plan to build my strength, flexibility and cardio ability. We started slow and her clear instruction and demonstration of the ‘right’ technique meant I quickly improved, loved our sessions and began to want to test how strong I could get.

At 42 I now regularly ‘lift heavy’. I’ve participated in powerlifting competitions, winning my age group in one and bringing home a medal to show my two little girls.

Katie has been there to support and coach me every step of the way and has become a trusted friend who I admire for her enthusiasm and lack of judgement. I’m strong, and I now have a range of movement and mobility that not everyone at my age can say they’ve achieved.

Katie designs bespoke sessions for me varying the programme depending on my aims and motivating me along the way – I’m still learning and improving. Ultimately she has allowed me to set an example to my children that fitness is attainable and my goal is to run after, and with them for the longest time possible.

Oh, and instead of ‘bingo wings’ I now have ‘guns’!

When my Mum said I was going to the start going to the gym and have a PT session, the first thing that came into my mind was what happens if we don’t get along.

The first day I went I was quite shy and did not talk much, but despite that, Katie was very approachable and very funny. Although we laughed a lot and got on so well, Katie worked me incredibly hard and would never let me take the easy route. By the end I was alway bright red.

From then on, I always had a positive vibe when I entered the gym and love working out with Katie. I saw a massive improvement in my strength and fitness. Katie also always researched my sport to find the best ways to help me. I have seen a massive improvement in my ice skating.
