For me, exercise used to solely be a way to lose weight or change my body's aesthetics. I was constantly focussed on the scales and engaging in disordered eating behaviours. A workout didn't 'count' if I didn't burn a certain amount of calories. I used to struggle going out to restaurants, trying to choose 'healthy' meals instead of what I actually wanted. Afterwards I would come home and spiral into disordered eating. This internal struggle made me feel like a failure, my self-esteem was nowhere to be found and my mental health was at an all time low.
I couldn't carry on any longer and with the appropriate help and the knowledge I gained about diet culture I changed my perspective. And now I want to help others see the same light!
Exercise should benefit you physically AND mentally. It's a celebration of what your body can do and not a punishment for what you ate. I believe everyone deserves to feel all the positive health benefits of movement without judgement.
As a female personal trainer and after my PMDD diagnosis (pre menstrual dysphoric disorder) I highly believe that the menstrual cycle plays a very large part in the performance in exercise. Another reason why we have to be KIND to ourselves. The hormonal fluctutations that come with a menstrual cycle, pregnancy or the menopause can hugely impact the way you exercise and sometimes need a more personal approach.

Candy: Sanne is such a great PT! I had a wonderful experience with her. She's kind and patient, while at the same time encouraging, and every workout feels worth the money and feels like I'm progressing on my fitness journey. I was sweating a lot after each workout. Exercises are varied and there's always modifications and accomodations to go up or down in difficulty. I also appreciate that she's very experienced so if a particular exercise isn't working for you, she'll immediately think of something else to try. I've done quite a lot of HIIT and gymming in the past but I learned a lot about what actually works for my body from my sessions with Sanne. Highly recommend!
Emma: Sanne is an amazing PT! She is so patient, kind and considerate in everything she does. She listens - which is key when trying to foster a trusting and motivating relationship - and pushes in a way that makes me feel encouraged, and not punished. She brings her HAES approach to all of her work too, and I never feel judged for not achieving something - instead we talk through how I can get there, and we take the steps together. I cannot recommend Sanne enough :)
