I have been working out on and off for the past 2.5yrs. Jonathan has been part of the training team at my gym and is always on hand to give support and encouragement. I had to give up the gym in January due to stomach problems but after an Operation and recuperation I was ready to get back in July and had my heart set on getting back in shape. I’m far more confident than I thought I would ever feel. In March of this year I decided that it was time to face my fears and   Invest in a personal trainer.   I had developed a phobia of working out in the gym, looking in the mirrors and being surrounded by fit people. My confidence was on the floor and the whole gym experience left me feeling cold and bewildered, not really knowing where to start.  I am delighted that I started working with Jonathan.  At my initial free taster session Jonathan assessed my fitness levels and identified key areas for us to work on. Although I was nervous he soon put me at ease with his warm and professional manner.  My first aim was to lose weight and for this Jonathan asked me to keep a food diary and send it through to him each evening so he was able to pinpoint and help me break old habits and assist me with recommendations and alternatives.  What I have gained is so much more than weight loss.  I have been training with Jonathan for almost seven months now, I have lost 10.5 kilos, seen a significant change to my cardiovascular fitness and body shape and realised how focused, effective and motivating one to one personal training can be.  The most important change for me however has been my general health, happiness and wellbeing. Working with Jonathan has improved my self -esteem and confidence vastly.  I wake up feeling more energised, feel appreciably stronger in everything I do throughout the day, and am making measurable, on going progress in my sessions.  I can’t recommend Jonathan’s service’s enough. I have a very demanding job with a great deal of responsibility and I work very long hours.  I first met Jonathan Archibald in late Summer 2013 at the time, I was doing very little exercise other than walking to work a couple of times a week. I had fallen into the trap of deciding that I did not have time to go to the gym. I was putting on weight and by the end of the year I was heavier than I had ever been. I wasn’t sleeping well and I really did not feel very good about myself. I am not exactly sporty and I certainly do not fit the profile of a gym going body builder but I realised that I needed to do something about my fitness levels. I met Jonathan a few times before I decided to take the plunge and become one of his personal training clients. In the time that I have worked with Jonathan my fitness levels have been transformed. I have lost over 30 pounds and since I reached my target weight which was about four months ago, my weight has remained stable.  My stamina has increased greatly and recently I ran over 12 miles. I can comfortably do an hour’s cardio on the cross trainer. I am also much more supple than I was. At the beginning of our journey, my hamstrings and lower back in particular were very tight. Theseproblems have been eliminated with the stretching exercises which Jonathan builds into our regular sessions. I also had a very long standing problem with one of my shoulders which I injured over 20 years ago. Over several months, Jonathan helped me carry out a range of exercises which have completely cured this problem.  Jonathan has many strengths to recommend him as a personal trainer. He has great communication skills which enable him to gain a thorough understanding of his clients’ needs and perhaps, more importantly, their insecurities. He is a very sensitive man who does not judge and always puts me at my ease. I feel that he takes great care of me not only during our training sessions but in the period between them. For example, most weeks I will get at least one email or text from Jonathan asking me how I am or checking whether I have been able to undertake a training session of my own. His knowledge of health and fitness is very high and I know that he spends a great deal of time and effort to keep himself up to date.  I would not hesitate to recommend Jonathan to anyone who was considering engaging him as their personal trainer. He is a very caring man who clearly understands that personal training is not just about lifting weights or running on a treadmill. He genuinely wants the best for his clients and uses his great skill and sensitivity to make sure that he does the best possible job for them. - David
