Course Introduction
This course teaches you how to add dietary advice to a regular exercise routine. It’s a mandatory unit on Level 3 Personal Trainer courses, so you’ll automatically qualify if you sign up for one.
Pre-requisities / Entry Requirements
In theory, anyone can enrol for our nutrition course. However, it’s advantageous to have a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction qualification.

You’ll be able to recommend a nutritional programme to your clients based around facts, too.

How is it assessed?
Using our secure, online learning programme, you’ll complete several multiple choice distance learning assessments. After that, there’s a multiple choice theory assessment that you can take at one of our venues close to you. The last stage is the case study on Nutrition and Weight Management. You’ll need to study your client’s eating habits and create an action plan to help you work with them on improving their daily routines. Your personal tutor will offer plenty of help and guidance to make sure you’re successful.
What Qualification Will I Get?
Qualification: YMCA Awards Level 3 Award in Nutrition for Physical Activity.
This qualification scores 20 points on the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs). It won’t get you direct Level 3 status, but it can be used to update your CPD and keep you on the Register. You’ll also get six credits on the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF).
